In a recent interview with The Times, Cardinal Müller did not hold back, criticizing the Pope Francis pontificate and warning of a potential split if an orthodox Pope is not elected. He also gave a position strikingly similar to the often-called “Recognize and Resist” position on the papacy.
“No Catholic is obliged to obey doctrine that is wrong…Catholicism is not about blindly obeying the Pope without respecting holy scriptures, tradition and the doctrine of the Church.”
