Recently, a traditionalist priest who had grown up under the care of Fr. Quintin Montgomery-Wright found a BBC documentary from the early 1990s on the work of Fr. Montgomery-Wright on YouTube. We are happy to post a copy of this tribute to a pastor who simply kept doing what he had done for decades before Paul VI and the Conciliar Church tried to change everything.
It is easy to forget the early days of the New Mass before Archbishop Lefebvre’s seminary was able to present candidates for ordination. At that time, there were only these rare diocesan priests who held the line and kept the Faith. The documentary highlights not only the fortitude of this one faithful priest but his great joy and sense of humor as he drove 50,000 kilometers a year to bring the Mass and sacraments to the scattered flock. Toward the end of the second part of the documentary, there is a charming interview with the then-newly consecrated Bishop Bernard Tissier de Mallerais.
After watching the account, we can all offer a prayer for this faithful priest who passed to his judgment in 1996.
