TRADITIONAL FATIMA STATIONS of the CROSS (With Photos from Fatima’s Outdoor Via Crucis)

Stabat Mater Stanza: (Stand) At the Cross Her station keeping; Stood the mournful Mother weeping, Close to Jesus to the last.

1st Station: JESUS IS CONDEMNED TO DEATH

V: We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee. (Genuflect)

R: Because by Thy Holy Cross, Thou hast redeemed the world. (Rise)

Scripture

“Jesus therefore came forth, bearing the crown of thorns and the purple garment. And he (Pilate) saith to them: Behold the Man.” (Jn 19: 5)

“… John saw Jesus coming to him and he saith:  Behold the Lamb of God, behold Him Who taketh away the sin of the world.” (Jn 1:29)

2nd Station: JESUS TAKES UP HIS CROSS

3rd Station: JESUS FALLS THE FIRST TIME

4th Station: JESUS MEETS HIS AFFLICTED MOTHER

“And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His Mother:  Behold this Child is set for the fall, and for the resurrection of many in Israel, and for a sign which shall be contradicted; And Thy own soul, a sword shall pierce, that, out of many hearts, thoughts may be revealed.”  (Lk 2:34-35)

5th Station: SIMON OF CYRENE HELPS JESUS CARRY THE CROSS

6th Station: VERONICA WIPES THE FACE OF JESUS

“Now there was in the place where He was crucified, a garden; and in the garden a new sepulcher, where no man yet had been laid.  There, therefore, because of the parasceve of the Jews, they laid Jesus, because the sepulcher was nigh at hand.” (Jn 19: 41-42)
